- 4 – 5 cups of thinly sliced tart apples
- 1/4 cup of lemon juice
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 cup of butter or margarine
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F and prepare a 9 inch round glass pie plate with cooking spray or grease with butter or margarine.
Place the apples in a bowl and mix with the lemon juice, then mound in the pie plate.
Combine the sugar, flours, cinnamon and nutmeg and cut in butter or margarine until crumbly, then sprinkle evenly over the apples.
Bake for 45 minutes or until apples are softened and topping is crisp and browned.
